Zak Plantus was born and raised in the small town of Keego Harbor, Michigan.

At the early age of 8, he was gifted his first guitar. Playing an integral role in his love for music were his amazing parents who nurtured his appreciation.  They tuned in Detroit's famous “Oldies 104.3” radio station as he lay down to sleep at night and his drummer, guitar playing Dad built a special music room in the basement of their family home. Zak then discovered his Dad’s Beatles collection and after hearing the opening of “Day Tripper” he was forever hooked! Spending countless hours honing his skills and learning many more Beatles riffs, the incredible bond with his Dad grew as they made endless musical memories together!

With influences such as The Beach Boys, The Temptations and The Beatles, the musical spell continued to grow. As he attended classic car shows, his head got filled with even more Motown and Rock'n'Roll.​​ His broad taste in timeless music expanded as he absorbed the sounds and stylings of groups from the British Invasion.

In his teen years, Zak taught himself the Bass, Drums, Keyboards and Harmonica. One hobby was to recreate Beatles songs, performing all the instruments and vocals. In years to come he performed live with original bands as well as a variety of Beatles tribute acts.

 

However as time moved forward, it was clear that his passion for Bass was to be his main musical focus.  Motown legend 'James Jamerson' and the impactful bass lines and grooves from recordings by the legendary “wrecking crew” had deepened his musical mindset.

 

Fast forward to 2025 when in a spontaneous and magical meeting, Zak would cross paths with Luvplanet's Nicole Sutton and Mark McGee. It truly all felt meant to be! After a few jam sessions together with the band, the spark and magnetic connection was crystal clear and he was welcomed into the fold with open arms! His tasteful Bass style brings a soulful, slick vibe and a fresh classic flair to the bands feel good sound!

 

Aside from the music Zak enjoys boating with his amazing wife Ashley, having family get togethers and completing home renovation projects. His passions relate to all things 'creating and building' with sketching and woodworking being his “forte”. And as a pro custom cabinet maker with an education in architecture, he's hand-built a beautiful collection of showroom quality musical instruments!
